We process your personal data:

  1. to respond to enquiries, complaints or comments that you email to us or submit via the forms on this website, in order to take steps prior to entering into a contract to join as a member of the BECC, and / or in our legitimate interests;
    1. as set out in the cookie notice where personal data is collected by cookies or similar technologies, either with your consent and / or legitimate interests, as well as any legal obligations; and
    1. to send you direct marketing in relation to our products and services, including those of our members, in our legitimate interests.

The legitimate interests pursued by us, including our members, are:

  1. in relation to enquiries, complaints or comments to maintain the reputation of BECC and our members whilst ensuring your matter is dealt with appropriately, which may include sharing your personal data with one or more of our members, depending on the nature of your communication;
    1. in relation to cookies, to secure our website, including your use of it, and give you a smooth user experience in remembering your choices (including any consents provided) – and separately to share your personal data with third-party providers of those cookies to tailor Ads as per your preference (NB please check the website notices of third parties vis-à-vis any onward sharing of your personal data); and
    1. in relation to direct marketing, to promote the activities, objectives, events, services, publications and member offerings of the BECC, and to develop and maintain engagement with current and prospective members and business contacts.

We may disclose your personal data to:

  1. our members, where relevant to your enquiry or request;
    1. providers of website hosting, cloud services, website management, IT support, analytics, advertising and cybersecurity services;
    1. payment processing providers where payments are made through our website;
    1. professional advisers including lawyers, accountants and auditors;
    1. regulators, supervisory authorities, law enforcement agencies and courts where required by law;
    1. Google, Meta and other third-party providers whose technologies you have enabled through the Cookie Preferences centre.

Please note that some members and third parties referred to may be in third countries, and you should contact us at any time to request details of the appropriate legal mechanisms we rely upon to transfer your personal data to the respective member or third party:

  1. an adequacy agreement between the EU, including the EU-US Data Privacy Framework and the UK Data Bridge;
  2. standard contractual clauses as approved by public authorities.

In relation to direct marketing, personal data is stored for 3 years from your last interaction with us, except where you have notified otherwise of your wishes (see the “Rights” section below).

You have qualified rights to request from us access to and rectification or erasure of personal data or restriction of processing or object to processing, including for direct marketing reasons at any time, as well as the right to data portability.

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority.

Where you provide personal data that may be needed to enter into a contract with us, such as becoming a member, or requesting product or services details about a member in order to transact with them, if you do not provide such information, we (or the member) may not be able to adequately deal with the matter.

Where personal data is transferred to Google and / or Meta according to the cookies and similar technologies consented to, it is likely your personal data will be profiled, leading to tailored Ads and related marketing through those third parties and their partners.
