British Council

The British Council is the UK’s international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We support peace and prosperity by building connections, understanding and trust between people in the UK and countries worldwide.

We work with governments and partner organisations to make a bigger difference for the long term and directly with individuals to help them gain the skills, confidence and connections to transform their lives and shape a better world in partnership with the UK. We support them to build networks and explore creative ideas, to learn English, to get a high-quality education and to gain internationally recognised qualifications. In 2022–23 we reached 600 million people.

Since 2016 the British Council in Estonia has been implementing a major FCDO funded social cohesion programme (People to People Cultural Engagement programme). We support annually around 50 projects in formal and non-formal education, sports, girls and women’s empowerment, social enterprise, culture and social activism and work together with individuals, diverse communities and institutions to build social cohesion in Estonia.
